Two days on who should own AI. (And the whole economy)
New Consensus AI brings together organizers, economists, engineers and policymakers to face AI’s real dangers — and to make the case for an economy the public runs, with AI working for us instead of putting us out of work.
Why now
The world is finally aware of the dangers of AI, and mass layoffs are likely to start in the next few years. The 2028 presidential election in the U.S. will be a debate about AI. But politicians and policymakers are hopelessly confused. It’s time to raise the level of the debate.
What we’ll work on
Can capitalism survive without workers? Is a publicly owned and operated economy possible? What should we demand instead of bailouts when the AI bubble bursts? We’ll spend two days on questions like these, and on what it would take to put the answers into practice.
Who’s hosting
New Consensus AI is hosted by New Consensus. New Consensus is an agile think tank focused on designing comprehensive, detailed plans for governments to achieve economic renewal and transformation.
